A Day at the Beach – Do’s and Don’ts

Summer is here and with it the #1 preferred activity – spending the day at the beach, taking a swim, and enjoying the warm sun and the beautiful people all around. But in order to end that day with the same enjoyment you’ve spend it, there are some “rules” you ought to follow. The following tips will allow you to fully enjoy your time at the beach and preventing damages that can be caused.

Find a Shaded Location

First thing to do as arriving to the beach, is to locate a shaded spot where you can sit and relax without allowing the sun to burn your skin and to dry you up more than what the heat dries you. Spending a few hours exposed to the direct sunlight can lead to a severe dryness and skin burns. Allowing yourself to sit at the shade in between swimming, will provide you with the balance between exposing yourself to the benefits of the sun and over exposing to it and allowing it to harm you.

Use Sunscreen

When you go to the beach you must use sunscreen of a high SPF, at least 30. Staying under the shade isn’t enough. Summers turn stronger and warmer by each year, so even when you go for a short swim, you must use protection form the devastating impact of the sun. Remember, neglecting using sunscreen is neglecting your skin care as well as your health.

Drink Water

When you’re out at the beach during summer, your body dries up quickly. Meaning you’re losing liquids that are vital to your body’s systems. And so, you must compensate for that loss by drinking enough water every 15-20 minutes. Obviously, it must be of an amount that is higher than what you’re usually drinking.

Wait 30 Minutes before Swimming after Eating

Going swimming right after eating may lead to vomiting. Allow your body to digest the foods for at least 30 minutes before going into the sea’s waters. We recommend to eat light foods and such that has a lot of fluids in it, such as watermelon and other tasty fruits.

Be sure to watch your children, make sure they are always at your sight, keep applying sunscreen on their skin and advise them to stay at the shade when they’re not swimming. Protect your skin’s health and use skin care products for after exposing to the sun, after your day at the beach. And most important – don’t forget to have fun!
